AWKWORD - Doh (Homer Simpson cover art by GOODIDEAstyle [Italy])

AWKWORD‘s exclusive for Dope Music Blog, “Doh“, was one of the singles released to promote the mixtape. Produced by Clementino of France and mixed by Trilian of Serbia, it world premiered exactly two weeks earlier (December 11) on Rap Genius.

As AWKWORD put it in his October 10, 2012, Spotlight Interview with Dope Music Blog:

I just felt like going free association with it. I wanted it to be notably different from the type of music I am known for making… It starts out inspired by all the times spent in Harry Fraud’s smoked-out studios and then just unravels from there.

  • New, Exclusive: DOPE Music Blog Artist Spolight: AWKWORD

    DOPE Music Blog

    DOPE Music Blog:

I was first introduced to New York City up and comer Awkword from his Harry Fraud produced hit Bars and Hooks which features Sean Price, The Kid Daytona and The Incomparable Shakespeare. His underground style instantly caught my attention, after listening to a few more of his tracks I was drawn to his conscious lyrics and the message that was present in a majority of his songs. I decided I wanted to get all the visitors of the site more familiar with Awkword not only as an artist but as a person.

    Questions:

    1. Introduce yourself to the Dope Music Blog viewers.
    2. I was very much a fan of Bars & Hooks which featured Sean Price, The Kid Daytona and production by Harry Fraud. How did this collaboration come together?
    3. I respect your design to donate 100% of the profits from the project to the World View Charity Aim To Live which is dedicated to eradicating street violence. What made you decide to do this?
    4. What is your favorite track off your upcoming project World View?
    5. Who are some of your current influences?
    6. Name a couple of artists that you would enjoy working with in the future.
    7. Tell us a little about “Doh” the exclusive you sent over for my upcoming compilation tape.

  • REQUIEM Gets Love from YouHeardThatNew, PleaseDontStare, etc

Single Cover Art: AWKWORD ft. SoulStice, Ess Vee & CuzOH! Black - "Requiem" (prod. ATG)

    DJ Booth:

Need some fresh music to play at your next kegger? AWKWORD‘s got just the thing—provided you like your party music with a pitch-black edge. Described by the artist as a “frat party track with the worst of tragic undertones,” Requiem finds the headliner trading verses with SoulStice, Ess Vee and Cuz OH! Black over a brooding instrumental by ATG. This moody selection is just one of many quality jams set for inclusion on DJBooth-sponsored, 100%-for-charity street album World View, set to hit our mixtape page for digital purchase in the near future.

This ill track“, The #Requiem was first heard on The Company Man Show on PNC Radio [FM/Internet] and world premiered exclusively through Andreas Hale‘s The Well Versed. Since, it’s been getting spins as nearby as New York City (e.g., WNYU Radio’s This Culture Will Never Die show with DJ Dharmic X) and as far away as Germany (e.g., Trackblasters Radio with DJ P.R.). It has also been featured — with critical acclaim — by the likes of Please Don’t Stare, You Heard That New [give it 5 stars!], DJ Booth [play, rate & comment!], Ashley Outrageous, Kevin Nottingham, The Mad Bloggers [rate it "Dope"], Donuts And Milk, Buck Marley XXX, Rock The Dub, DOPE Music Blog [rate it "DOPE"], Deal With No Deal, Eastside Morales, We Goin In, Womazing, Definition of Fresh, Hip Hop Dependency and DJ Loscar (France).
