HipHopHundred Interviews AWKWORD
What’s goin on everyone!? Today, I had a very intriguing conversation with hip hop artist, AWKWORD, coming to us from Connecticut, now living in New York City. When you listen to AWKWORD, his sound is absorbing, and his perceptive expression of life is so unique. He definitely has knowledge to share, and I admire that he uses his talent to give back to the people. We talked in length about a variety of topics, including: the art of rap, and its ability to influence political and social issues. AWKWORD breaks down his creativity, life experiences, and his views on the evolution of hip hop, as well as his favorite artists, and upcoming projects. There is definitely a lot to ponder during and after this interview. At the end of the day, we can appreciate that we are all connected, and can learn from each other. The music we share, the experiences, the pleasure, the pain; it’s what makes us human, and it’s what makes life worth living. Check out AWKWORD, the interview, the music, and video below. Be inspired, and inspire!

Check this dope boom-bap track.
A potent cut from South Central emcee Curtessy & Johannesburg-based producer The Militia’s “Look What the Streets Made” EP, featuring NYC rapper/activist AWKWORD.
DJBobbyTrends (Hot 97):
Here is a brand new collaborative effort between Awkword, The Militia and Curtessy, off of The Militia’s dope six track EP entitled “Look What the Streets Made EP“… Always cool to post new solid work from Awkword. And trust, there is more heat on the way!
This is a track I was hoping that was in my inbox. You know, amazing production and a honest story. Curtessy makes that happen with AWKWORD for “Memory Lane” produced by The Militia. The beat is hypnotic and the track is very real. THIS IS A MUST LISTEN!
It’s always a blessing when the homie AWKWORD hits my email with a new track. This song is a recent drop by up-and-comer Curtessy, with AWKWORD holding down the tail end of the track. ‘Memory Lane’ is a solid listen; a fundamentally sound song laced with throwback hip-hop vibes. I’m beginning to expect the consistent quality that is associated with any music AWKWORD co-signs. Curtessy leads off with the realness; he spins stories of his upbringing. Tales of a youth struggling painted with a optimistic brush, Curtessy shows that there’s more than negativity that come from rough younger days.
AWKWORD stands as an inspiration in the rap game. He’s more than just a spitter, although he’s head and shoulders above most in that regard, he’s a philanthropist and visionary; a pioneer in his own right. His forthcoming project is a DJ Booth hosted, 100% for-charity, album that’s slated to change the game up. It’s rare to find an artist who actually embraces empathy, one who actually cares enough to work towards a change. Even outside of hip-hop, outside of music entirely, it’s hard to find individuals willing to dedicate themselves to the betterment of others. Hat’s off to AWKWORD.
The Militia & Curtessy recently released an EP entitled, “Look What The Streets Made”, and this is definitely a standout cut, Memory Lane. Track has a smooth sample with enough boom-bap to start the head nod provided by The Militia. Curtessy & Awkword take you through a lyrical stroll down “Memory Lane” to let you know on some ventures that made them who they are today. As, I’ve stated before more dopeness from the homie Curtessy comin’ out of LA on the way & expect some super greatness from Awkword in the future. “AWKWORD FT. Joell Ortiz, Slug (of Atmosphere) & Maya Azucena – “Go!” (Prod. By Domingo)” <—- Yeah that’s happening. Just press play already. Shouts to The Militia!
This is the type of shit I rocks with.
From the EP “Look What The Streets Made” by production and emcee duo The Militia and Curtessy comes the reflective track “Memory Lane” featuring AWKWORD. Both emcees flow seamlessly over the throwback slaps of the track.
One of the stand-out tracks from The Militia & Curtessy’s Look What The Streets Made EP, featuring the homie Awkword. Check it out.
Curtessy dropped his new track with Awkword. I’m feelin’ that old beat they used for Memory Lane. Really takes you back, but I guess that was the objective.

Coming off of Tha Soloist vs. Trilian: Original Script is the Certified fresH banger “Words.” The track features the verbal artillery of AWKWORD along with Tha Soloist over an ill backdrop provided by Serbian born producer Trilian. Most of the time we get joints from AWKWORD that are of a political nature so it is refreshing to get something where the homie is just spittin’ BARS! Not that kickin’ knowledge is a bad thing but every once in a while a mufucka just wants that raw shit in his eardrums, Tha Soloist, AWKWORD and Trilian definitely deliver on “Words.”
This is pure Hip Hop traditionalism.
Here is a dope track from Tha Soloist featuring AWKWORD “Words” produced by Trilian. The track is raw and contains two MC”s spittin some insane lines.
Start your weekend off with some proper hip-hop, courtesy of the homies Awkword and Tha Soloist. By now you know that we fuck with Awkword heavily at the LCH headquarters; he’s one the of premier artists perpetuating pure hip-hop. His flow is consistently classic with rhymes that cut with a modern edge. Tha Soloist holds down the tail end of this track and kills his verse. Both of them speak on the golden days of rap, when style and skill pushed artists to the top. It’s not fair to say that Awkword is on the come up because it seems like he’s already made it to an extent. Be on the look out for his forthcoming project “World View”, the first ever 100% for charity rap album.
The Soloist, Trilian & Awkword teach Words on their collabo cut and it’s exactly what you should be listenin’ to when the play button is clicked.
Dope new boom-bap from Tha Soloist and Awkword! Definitely cop this joint.
Don’t sleep!… This joint from Tha Soloist & AWKWORD is tight. As a Kevin Nottingham world premiere, you can imagine this video received it’s fair share of plays and has been trending all across the net. Check it out and see why.
New track off Tha Soloist and Trilian’s collab project Original Script. On this one they enlist Awkword to spit some heavy bars. Check it out.
I feel a certain kind of way with this record. Maybe its just the beat but I almost feel like spitting some bars. Don’t worry I won’t Tha Soloist and AWKWORD already killed it. Relax and Listen!
Neighbor Hood Watch World Wide:
From Original Script, “Words” featuring Awkword is a quick hard-hitting track that will bump in your earbuds. Although this is a stand out track, Serbian producer Trilian and Tha Soloist’s collab is laced with bangers all the way through.
